First Excursion

Walking in Community

Last Friday, the students ventured outside the classroom walls to introduce themselves to the community. Along the way, they said good morning to many people, including residents, construction workers and police officers. The students were encouraged to quietly look around to notice the surroundings of the neighborhood.

The students explored nature around a nearby pathway in the woodlands of Milton. Traveling through, they were excited to see living organisms that inhabit the area, including a deer who scampered across their path. They also examined and explored the plant life native to the area.

The pathway led to a small bridge that spanned across a pond. Students took in the natural beauty and searched for the pond’s inhabitants. Many students enthusiastically searched for small rings in the water that were created by the fish living in the pond.
